Welcome to Willow Class – Our Pre-School Provision

In Willow, we offer a nurturing and inspiring environment where children flourish as confident, independent learners, ready to take their next steps into primary school. Our pre-school class is designed to support every child’s development through a rich, structured curriculum delivered with care, expertise, and joy.

Preparing for Primary School

We understand the importance of early years education in shaping a child’s future. That’s why Willow focuses on:

• Building independence and self-confidence

• Establishing strong routines and structure

• Encouraging quality interactions to develop communication, language, and literacy

Every day is thoughtfully planned and led by an experienced, qualified teacher who ensures that learning is purposeful, engaging, and tailored to each child’s needs.

Our Daily Learning Offer

Children in Willow enjoy a balanced and progressive curriculum that includes:

• Daily Literacy Sessions: Centred around a carefully chosen core book to spark imagination and deepen understanding

• Small Group Maths: Hands-on activities to build early numeracy skills

• Phonics: Delivered three times a week to support early reading and sound recognition

• PSHE & Understanding the World: Sessions that nurture emotional wellbeing, social skills, and curiosity about the world around them

Communication & Language Support

We are proud to have a dedicated Speech and Language Lead who works closely with staff and children to enhance communication skills. Vocabulary is intentionally embedded into all sessions, ensuring children are exposed to rich and meaningful language every day.

Outdoor Adventures & Nature Club

Outdoor exploration is a vital part of our curriculum. Children have daily opportunities to play, discover, and learn in our outdoor spaces. Each week, they take part in Nature Club, led by a qualified Forest School practitioner, where they connect with nature through exciting, hands-on experiences and apply our curriculum objectives.

Enrichment & Experiences

We believe in learning beyond the classroom. Willow children enjoy:

• Dance sessions to build coordination and confidence

• Visits to the theatre, farm, and local area to bring learning to life

• Special visitors including storytellers and even an owl company, adding magic and wonder to our curriculum

These experiences are carefully chosen to complement our progressive curriculum and deepen children’s understanding of the world.
