Learning Journeys
Practitioners make on-going, incidental assessments from their observations of the babies and young children and from conversations with parents. These inform how the practitioners interact with children and families in the ‘here and now’ to support learning and development needs, as well as informing future planning.
In addition, all teachers and practitioners carry out termly summative assessments of the learning and development of the babies and young children linked to age appropriate developmental milestones. These assessments are collated in Learning Journeys which will also include pen portraits from induction, two year progress checks, photographs and written observations. We aim to share assessments and Learning Journeys termly with parents and the contents will be given to each child when they leave nursery.
Assessment information is transferred onto a database in order to provide opportunity for analysis of the data.
